NH-01 · After hours
The 2 AM call, handled safety first.
How our AI receptionist, NH-01, handles the calls that matter most: no heat, water everywhere, and the smell of gas. This is the same system answering our own line right now.
01
It answers, and says what it is
Every call is picked up, day or night, weekends included. The first thing the caller hears is that they’re talking to an AI receptionist and that the call may be recorded.
02
Safety comes before scheduling
As soon as the caller explains the problem, and before it takes a single detail, it asks one safety question matched to what they described.
03
Emergencies get sent to the right place
If there’s real danger, it tells the caller to call 911, tells them someone will call them back within the hour, and does not book an appointment. If they smell gas, it skips the question entirely: leave the house and call 911.
04
Everything else gets booked
It collects the name, callback number, service address and a time that works, one question at a time, then reads it all back in one sentence. It books only after a clear yes.
05
It never fakes a booking
A confirmation comes only after the calendar actually accepts the appointment, with the full date spelled out. If the calendar can’t be reached, it tells the caller the team will call back within one business hour.
The safety questions
One question, picked for the situation. Never a checklist read at a stressed caller.
| Caller reports | NH-01 asks |
|---|---|
| Water leak, overflow or burst pipe | “Is water still running or pooling anywhere you can’t shut off?” |
| No heat or furnace out | “Is anyone at risk from the cold — is it freezing in there?” |
| Anything else | “Is anyone in danger right now?” |
| Gas smell | No question. It tells the caller to leave the house and call 911, says someone will call back within the hour, and books nothing. |
What it won’t do
- It doesn’t diagnose problems or quote repair prices over the phone.
- It doesn’t dispatch a technician by itself. Emergencies go to 911 and to a person.
- It never claims to be human. If a caller asks, it says it’s an AI.
- It only collects what the job needs: name, number, service, address, time, and an email only if the caller wants a confirmation.
